Applications for Higher Education: Three Phases, Three Opportunities

The application process for higher education 2025 is done exclusively online, on the portal of the Directorate-General for Higher Education (DGES). And yes, there is more than one phase - so take a deep breath, prepare your documents well and pay attention to the calendar!

1.ª Phase: from July 21 to August 4, 2025

This is the most popular phase with the highest number of vacancies. This is where you should bet heavily on your application, especially if you have an average for the most sought-after courses.

• Results: August 24

• Enrolment in institutions: from August 25 to 28

• Period for complaints: from August 25 to 29

💡 Dica do Dicas: If you have been out of the course of your dreams at this stage, don't be discouraged. There are still two more chances!

2.ª Phase: from August 25 to September 3

Ideal for those who did not enter the 1st phase, were not satisfied with the placement or simply want to try again with better options.

• Results: September 14

• Enrolments: from September 15 to 17

3.ª Phase: from September 23 to 25

Last call! It is at this stage that residual vacancies arise. It may be your chance to get a place - so it's worth paying attention.

• Results: October 1

How does the application work?

It all starts with the access password, which must be requested in advance on the DGES portal. Without this password, you can't apply - so take care of it in time!

Then, you just need to choose your favourite courses (up to six options per phase), indicate the institutions and wait for the results calmly (or anxiety, we understand!).

Knowing exactly when and how to act can make all the difference to enter the course you want. Being aware of dates avoids last-minute rushes and increases your chances of success.
