Sobre o evento
World Menopause Day is celebrated on October 18th .
This is a day of remembrance for women's health and a dialogue between women and doctors about the medical follow-up of menopause. The date was created by the International Menopause Society (IMS) and officially recognized by the World Health Organization (WHO).
Menopause affects women, on average, from the age of 50 onwards. By 2030 there should be 1.2 million women in the world over 50 years of age.
The main effects of menopause on women's health are the absence of menstruation and the inability to get pregnant.
In Portugal, few women resort to hormonal treatments during menopause. However, doctors advise women with severe menopausal symptoms to seek medical advice to alleviate the effects.
